The strategy chosen by Western countries to weaken Russia through military support for Ukraine is not yielding results. This was announced on May 16 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

"The strategy that the West supports is that it supports this [conflict] <.. It should serve to weaken Russia, it just doesn't work," Fico stressed.

The politician held a meeting with Slovak students, at which the topic of relations between Western states and Russia was raised. The video of the meeting was posted on the official page of the Prime Minister on the social network Facebook (owned by the organization Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

On the same day, Fico called holding a serious dialogue with Russia the responsibility of the European Union (EU). The Prime Minister also called the belief of a number of European politicians that the conflict in Ukraine can be resolved militarily an illusion.

Fico arrived in Russia the day before the celebration on May 9th. During the visit, he laid wreaths at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin in Moscow, and also took part in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
