The remains of 28-year-old boxer Yainer Andres Gomez Sandoval, who was considered a promising athlete in the super lightweight division, have been discovered in Colombia. This was reported on May 13 by the publication Need To Know.

The athlete's body was found on May 11 in a river near the city of Barranquilla. It is specified that only a torso without a head and limbs was found. The next day, Sandoval's mother identified him by his tattoos.

On May 10, the boxer fought his first professional match at the WBA Future Champions Colombia tournament, in which he was defeated. Prior to that, he had won all six fights at the amateur level, five of which he finished by knockout.

After the tournament, the athlete stayed with his relatives. He was last seen on the evening of May 10 near his home. When Sandoval stopped contacting the next day and his phone was disconnected, the family contacted the police.

Later, the athlete's remains were found in the river. According to the boxer's trainer, Sandoval had no known conflicts or connections with criminal gangs. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The Univision channel reported on April 21 that the winner of the Miss Teen Universe of Baja California 2017, Carolina Flores Gomez, was shot dead by her own jealous mother–in-law at the age of 27 in Mexico City. According to the mother of the deceased, the mother-in-law was angry with her daughter-in-law for forgetting to feed her husband.
