Recruiters who lure people to scam centers in Myanmar under the guise of employment can purposefully work with citizens of the CIS countries using Russian at the first stage of communication. A Russian woman freed from labor slavery told about this on May 10.

According to her, the criminal scheme begins with a contact through a Russian-speaking recruiter, after which the potential victim is transferred to other network participants.

"First, you need to pay attention to the recruiter. Often such people first communicate in Russian, and then transfer the person to those who already speak to him in English. They are aimed at citizens of the CIS countries," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The girl noted that she finally realized the danger of the situation only during transportation. When she saw the armed men, she began demanding explanations from the escorts.

According to her, the reaction of the network coordinator only confirmed the fears. The man responded to threats to complain to law enforcement agencies with indifference.

"In response, he said that he was supposedly not from Russia and he didn't care if I complained somewhere. It's not entirely clear. He mentioned something like Ukrainian or Belarusian origin, but I didn't understand it clearly," the agency interlocutor added.
