Young people in Germany do not want to undergo military service and prepare for a possible conflict with Russia. This was reported on May 8 by the German newspaper Junge Welt (JW).

As noted in the publication's material, last year, the German parliament, in the wake of anti-Russian rhetoric, decided to gradually return conscription to military service. However, the authorities faced a serious problem, as young people began to actively protest against this innovation.

"The majority of the younger generation rejects conscription. The likely reason for this is the rush of student strikes against conscription. <...> Such strikes cause concern among those in power," the publication says.

According to Junge Welt, in response to this, the German government is beginning to apply repressive measures against citizens who refuse to participate in a potential armed confrontation with Russia. It is noted that the persecution of students in a number of educational institutions has become inevitable, including because of the slogans that wars benefit the rich, while the younger generation needs a peaceful future.
