Russian fighters blew up the wall of an industrial zone and created a springboard for an offensive in the DPR

Russian military personnel blew up the concrete fence of an industrial zone and gained a foothold on the territory of the facility in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported on May 4 in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"We were liberating another settlement in the Red Army area. The enemy had good defenses in the city and controlled all sections of the roads. <...> We decided to blow up the wall of the concrete fence of the industrial zone," said Andrei Petunov, commander of the assault unit of the Center group of forces.

According to the soldier, immediately after the explosion, the assault groups entered the territory of the enterprise, where they successfully gained a foothold and created a springboard for further offensive by Russian units. The fighter also shared his plans for the future. He said that after retirement, he dreams of buying a house on the seashore to spend time with his wife and two children.

Petunov worked his way up from private to commander of an assault unit. During his service as part of the Center group of forces, he participated in hundreds of evacuations of fighters under fire, as well as stormed positions in forest belts and settlements. The commander carried out combat missions in the Krasnolimansk, Kremen, Avdeevsky and Red Army directions.

On the same day, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, announced that Russian military personnel were advancing in the Slavyansk direction in the Donetsk People's Republic and gaining a foothold on the eastern outskirts of the village of Rai-Alexandrovka. He also noted that the capture of this village is of strategic importance for the further offensive on Slavyansk.
