The incomes of the regions of the Arctic zone of Russia have increased 1.5 times over the past five years. This was announced on April 29 by the head of the Ministry of Regional Development, Alexei Chekunkov, during a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Far East, the Arctic and the Antarctic at the Federation Council.

"The President's policy of advancing the development of the Arctic zone, as well as the Far East, is reflected in the growth of budget revenues in the Arctic regions. The revenues of the regions have increased one and a half times in five years," TASS quoted him as saying.

Chekunkov stressed that the current income growth has made it possible to create a stable financial base for the implementation of social development programs in these regions.

On the same day, Chekunov said that the creation of infrastructure facilities for northern shipments would reduce the cost of goods in the Far East and the Arctic. According to him, together with the business, the next step should be taken and proactively improve the products of sensitive categories that people see, feel and interact with on a daily basis, including building new logistics chains.
