Dmitriev said the EU lost the sanctions war against China

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said on April 26 that the European Union had launched a sanctions war against China, but had already been defeated in it.

"The EU has declared a sanctions war on China, which it has already lost," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

In this way, Dmitriev reacted to the publication of the Politico newspaper about Beijing's warning about the consequences for Brussels after the inclusion of Chinese companies in the new package of sanctions against Russia.

Earlier, Hungary and Slovakia blocked the adoption of the proposals.

Commenting on this news, Zoltan Koshkovich, an analyst at the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, said on April 26 that EU sanctions against Russia, which also affected a number of Chinese companies, could eventually turn against the EU itself. In his message, he called the Brussels leadership "fanatics."
