With the beginning of the summer holiday season, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia notes an increase in the number of phishing resources disguised as online stores of garden goods. This was announced on April 25 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry.

"Since the beginning of the summer season, there has been an increase in phishing resources that mimic online stores of garden goods," the agency's channel says in the MAX messenger.

The department explained that the attackers are creating websites that simulate sites for the sale of chainsaws, greenhouses, fertilizers and other equipment at low prices. At the same time, a full prepayment is a prerequisite for the purchase. After the user transfers the money, the order is not delivered, and the resource itself ceases to function.

The Interior Ministry stressed that cybercrime is characterized by seasonality, so such schemes are repeated annually. According to the agency, fraudsters do not create demand on their own, but adapt to the existing interests of citizens, depending on the time of year. So, in summer, the topics of cottages and tourism are most relevant, in autumn — preparation for the school year, in winter criminals use the sales period, and in spring they switch to selling tickets and vouchers.

Director of the communication policy of the financial marketplace "I will choose.<url>" Anna Romanenko reported on April 24 that fraudsters in 2026 are increasingly targeting not direct theft of money, but access to user accounts and personal data. So, if at the end of 2025 schemes with the promise of high-yield investments prevailed, then in the first quarter of 2026 attacks on accounts and more complex scenarios of social engineering showed the greatest growth.
