- Slovakia announced a response to the ban of the Baltic States on the flight of Fico to Russia
The decision of the Baltic authorities to ban Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's plane from flying to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations is an act of hostility, and Bratislava will respond. This was announced on April 25 by Lubos Blaga, a member of the European Parliament from Slovakia.
"When Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia commit such acts, it is a signal of hostility towards the Slovak people as such," Blaga said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The deputy noted that the actions of the Baltic countries violate the internal rules of the European Union (EU). According to him, the restrictions will not disrupt the prime minister's visit to Russia.: Fico will use an alternative route, as he did a year earlier.
"The Baltic states have long gone crazy. They don't let the Slovak Prime minister's plane through. This means that something is rotten in the Baltics, and we need to talk about it seriously. Therefore, Slovakia will react," Blaga stressed.
Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak announced on April 22 that Fico would fly to Russia to participate in the Victory Day Parade, even despite Poland's ban on using its airspace for overflight.
Lithuania and Latvia denied a Fico plane a potential flight to Russia over their territories on April 18, and Estonia joined them the next day.
