Employees of the FSB Directorate for the Chelyabinsk Region, together with colleagues from other law enforcement agencies, stopped an attempt to steal diamonds worth more than 120 million rubles. This was announced on April 21 in the department.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the bankruptcy trustee of Chelprom-Diamond LLC, an enterprise specializing in the production of jewelry and processing of precious stones. According to investigators, the man acted as part of a group by prior agreement. The suspect intended to fraudulently steal diamonds belonging to the State Fund of the Russian Federation.

"Operational support for search operations and detention in Moscow and the Moscow region is carried out by employees of the regional FSB and the Central Office of the FSB of Russia," the agency told TASS.

The FSB press service explained that the criminal intent could not be realized due to the timely intervention of security agencies and investigative authorities. A case has been opened against the detainee under Part 3 of Articles 30 and Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted fraud on an especially large scale").

On January 11, the Moscow court decided to keep the diamond seized from Sergey Hiryakov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Customs Broker of Special Communications (TBCC). It was clarified that the gemstone appears in the materials of the preliminary investigation into the case of bribery of an employee of the Federal Customs Service.
