The elections in September 2026 will be held in difficult conditions. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 21.

The Head of State recalled that elections of State Duma deputies would be held in the fall, and for the first time residents of four historical regions reunited with Russia would take part in them.

"We understand that the elections will be held in difficult conditions, and our opponents, or rather, opponents, primarily external ones, will try to use any opportunity to split and destabilize Russian society," Putin said.

He also expressed confidence that all attempts at destabilization would be stopped, and voters would give preference to constructive political programs and ideas, patriots and people of action.

On April 1, Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation, said during a meeting of the new CEC with Vladimir Putin that the Russian electoral system had proven its reliability and stability in the context of a special military operation. Pamfilova also added that the main efforts of the CEC are directed inland to increase confidence in the domestic elections.
