The circumstances of the tragedy

At night, the neighbors of the apartment on the 16th floor in the house on Vorovsky Street witnessed a loud quarrel between the spouses who lived there. The staff of the operational investigation team who arrived at the scene found that the front door was locked from the inside, it had to be opened by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Inside the room were the bodies of a man and a woman with stab wounds in the chest and neck. According to the source of Izvestia, the dead were Vladislav Bengraf, an artist of the Fest theater, and his wife Evgenia, who led the make-up shop in the same theater. Criminologist Mikhail Ignatov called the incident a unique and extremely rare case in judicial practice. The expert noted that during domestic conflicts, one victim is usually recorded, or the perpetrator commits suicide on his own.

The specialist admitted that the participants in the fight could be under the influence of alcohol or in agony, which is why the pain threshold was significantly lowered. Mikhail Ignatov suggested that Evgenia could have retaliated without realizing the severity of her injuries at the first moment.

"This is a really rare case, out of the ordinary. As a rule, in domestic fights we see one victim, someone who kills. It happens when a murderer realizes what he has done and takes his own life. And it's extremely rare for them to kill each other," Ignatov explained.

Knives and other evidence have been seized from the scene. The investigation has ordered a complex of examinations, including fingerprinting and examination of cold weapons, and witnesses from among the neighbors are also being questioned.
