More than 20,000 people were evacuated in Iwate and Aomori prefectures in Japan after the earthquake. This was reported on April 20 by the NHK TV channel.

A natural disaster occurred in the north of Honshu Island in the Pacific Ocean. The maximum force of the tremors was five plus points on a seven-point scale. A tsunami danger has been declared on the Pacific coast from Hokkaido Island to the north of Honshu.

At least 20,000 people have been evacuated in Iwate and Aomori prefectures. 9.64 thousand people are being evacuated in the city of Otsuchi, 11 thousand people in the city of Kamaishi. According to the latest data, the maximum height of the tsunami off the coast of Iwate Prefecture was 80 cm.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred earlier on April 20 in Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan, and authorities immediately declared a tsunami threat. Later it became known that the first tsunami wave caused by the earthquake reached the country.

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported that up to 3,000 Russian tourists may be in Japan. According to tour operators, the main tourist routes are away from the risk zone.
