On April 19, Russian judoka took the third place in the team medal standings of the European Championship, which was held in Tbilisi.
The Russians have won seven awards: two gold, one silver and four bronze. Murad Chopanov (up to 66 kg) and Timur Arbuzov (up to 81 kg) became European champions.
Sabina Gilyazova won the silver medal. Bronze medals were won by Arman Adamyan (up to 100 kg), Valery Endovitsky (over 100 kg), Marina Vorobyeva (up to 48 kg) and Madina Taymazova (up to 70 kg).
The first place in the overall standings was taken by the Georgian national team, which won four gold, two silver and one bronze medals. The French team became the second.
Last December, Russian judoka Valery Endovitsky won the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo. In the final of the tournament in the over 100 kg category, a Russian athlete defeated a judoka from Japan, Hegu Otu.
