- A Russian from Moscow was nicknamed Russian Gosling for his resemblance to the actor.
The meme "Ryan Gosling" has spread across Russian social networks: users have found a domestic double of Hollywood star Ryan Gosling in the person of 21-year-old Moscow actor Matvey Soshkin. He was nicknamed "Roman Gusling" and it is joked that he "even looks more like Gosling than Gosling himself now looks like himself."
Jokes in the comments to Soshkin's video are gaining tens of thousands of likes. There are suggestions online to make a Russian sequel to the cult "Drive" and jokes about "import substitution of actors." There is no real Gosling on social media, so users mark his wife Eva Mendes so that the Hollywood star can see his copy and appreciate the similarity.
Soshkin is a 21—year-old Muscovite, a fourth-year student at the Institute of Contemporary Art. He himself admits that acquaintances and passers-by have long pointed out the resemblance to the Hollywood star, but he did not think that the situation "could turn out like this."
"The nicknames they give me don't offend me in any way. I'm more just having fun with them and that's it. Everyone sees me just as an ordinary actor, a person," Soshkin said.
Russian blogger Alexey Zhulkov, whose photo on the yacht turned into a viral trend, told Izvestia on April 15 about the history of this picture. His Instagram video (owned by Meta, a recognized extremist organization in Russia) has gained more than 16 million views, and social media users across the country have begun to massively post photos of Alexei on avatars.
