The Indonesian Navy plans to use B50 standard biofuels for its patrol ships. This was announced on April 16 by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Muhammad Ali.

It is noted that the decision was made as part of a program to reduce the state's dependence on fossil fuels.

"In the future, we will use B50 fuel. This will require changes to the design of the marine engines currently in use," the Antaranews agency quoted him as saying.

B50 is a mixture that consists of 50% diesel fuel and 50% crude palm oil. According to the admiral, the transition to the new standard will help the fleet in patrolling, logistics and troop transportation. First of all, biofuels are planned to be used on highly mobile vessels.

From July 1, 2026, the use of the B50 standard will become mandatory throughout Indonesia. The country's authorities expect that this measure will strengthen energy independence and increase the energy efficiency of the economy.

Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev announced on April 13 that Russia had received a request from Indonesia for the supply of petroleum products. He also noted that Moscow and Jakarta are working on a long-term energy supply contract.

At a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto on the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that energy and space are promising areas for cooperation between the two countries. The Russian leader expressed hope that Moscow and Jakarta will be able to find solutions to maintain a stable situation in bilateral trade.
