The Ministry of Education called cleaning and duty duties tools of labor education

Compulsory duty and cleaning of school premises are fixed in federal educational standards and programs, and are also tools of labor education. This was announced on April 14 by the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

"Labor education is enshrined in federal state educational standards (FGOS), federal educational programs (FOP) of primary general, basic general, and secondary general education," the ministry told RIA Novosti.

The ministry clarified that the concept of labor education implies the involvement of students in work, the formation of respect for workers and the results of their activities. The work is also aimed at orienting students towards professional activity, self-realization and achieving high results in work.

"Compulsory duty and cleaning, which are proposed to be introduced in educational institutions, are tools for labor education and socially useful work," the Ministry of Education explained.

When organizing such activities, teachers are required to take into account the age of children, their physical fitness and the prevailing type of activity for each stage of development. In addition, the agency prescribes that students should take into account the experience of independent or collective work and the specifics of their communication in a team.

How will the new training course be implemented?

Olga Pavlova, a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, said on April 13 that it was necessary to resume the practice of socially useful work in Russian schools. According to her, students could clean their desks and blackboards after lessons, prepare the class for the next lesson, take care of plants in the classroom and recreation areas.

Sergei Kolunov, deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, in turn, recalled that current legislation already allows students to engage in socially useful work without parental consent. The parliamentarian noted that such measures are aimed at developing children's basic household skills and a positive attitude to work.
