In Moscow, fraudsters stole 30.7 million rubles from a 65-year-old pensioner using a criminal scheme with an SMS message about replacing a meter. This was announced on April 11 by the Moscow prosecutor's office.

"The call from the representative of the meter replacement company did not arouse the 65-year-old pensioner's suspicions, the man agreed on the date of the specialist's visit, after which he called the received SMS code. Realizing that he had made a mistake, the man immediately interrupted the conversation," the Telegram channel said.

Immediately after that, the man began receiving messages allegedly about hacking his office at Gosuslugi with a phone number for feedback.

The victim called the number from the text message. He was allegedly answered by an employee of Roskomnadzor, who said that a power of attorney for the disposal of money and property had already been issued on his behalf. Then the false employee stated that his house would be searched to find undeclared funds.

At the direction of the caller, the man left the house, took paper and pen, and got into the car. After that, the false siloviki contacted him in turn. They forced him to record a voice commitment of non-disclosure, buy a new phone and SIM card, and install a video communication app.

Under the supervision of the supervisors, the pensioner began withdrawing money from accounts and handing it over to couriers, calling a code word and receiving allegedly financial documents. In seven meetings, he gave away more than 30.7 million rubles. When the callers stopped contacting, the man realized that he had been deceived.

A source from Izvestia reported on April 9 that in the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki district of Moscow, intruders lured a 14-year-old girl out of family jewelry worth 850 thousand rubles, convincing her that it was necessary to prevent an explosion in her favorite park. Succumbing to psychological pressure, the schoolgirl put the jewelry in a pencil case and threw it out of the window.
