- Mexican cartel has been holding a Russian woman in sexual slavery since she was 15 years old
A Mexican drug cartel has abducted the daughter of a Russian pianist in Mexico City and has been holding her in slavery for 2.5 years. This was announced on April 11 by a source of Izvestia.
The schoolgirl was 15 years old when the incident occurred in 2023 right in front of her mother, Marina Romanova, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. The woman saw how unknown people forcibly pushed the girl into a minibus with the inscription DIFEM (local guardianship service) and disappeared.
The police refused to accept a statement from the mother. Then she appealed to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Human Rights Commission and the Red Cross. Only Russian diplomats were able to help.
According to one version, the Tijuana cartel, which has connections in the Mexican police, is behind the kidnapping. The Mexican ambassador to Moscow, Eduardo Villegas Mejias, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry for negotiations, but the child could not be returned.
Parents are afraid that they won't be able to save their daughter in time. After the age of 18, she can be sold into slavery and forced to give birth to children, who will then also be sold on the black market.
Ivan Melnikov, vice-president of the Russian branch of the International Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, told Izvestia on March 10 that a Russian woman who had previously been abducted in Myanmar had been released from captivity. According to Melnikov, over 200 people were released from the same place.
