- The media announced the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the United States to reduced employees to go to work
The US Secretary of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mallin, ordered all department employees, including those who have been reduced, to return to work. This was announced on April 10 by the Fox News Network (FNN).
"Employees were informed that "all employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, both excluded and not excluded/not released," should be returned "to working and paid status, effective from your next regular working day," the publication says.
It is noted that the ministry has been operating under partial closure since February 14, as Congress has not yet approved funding for the 2026 fiscal year. Thousands of employees were put on leave, while many others continued to work.
The message also warned that those who will not be able to go to work must get permission from the management. Otherwise, they face administrative or disciplinary measures.
The White House press service reported on March 22 that "chaos reigns" at US airports due to the suspension of the work of the American Interior Ministry. More than 400,000 employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) quit due to the shutdown, and financial losses amount to $2.5 billion.
On March 27, American leader Donald Trump declared the partial suspension of the work of the country's Interior Ministry units an emergency. Since the start of the shutdown, about 500 transportation security personnel have quit, and thousands of employees have started taking sick leave due to lack of pay. As a result, the waiting time for screening at the country's airports has reached three or more hours.
