The Interior Ministry warned about phishing attacks under the guise of festive actions for Easter

The attackers began distributing phishing links and fake QR codes under the guise of holiday promotions for Easter. This was announced on April 10 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.

"Be careful! Scammers are sending out dangerous Easter postcards," the agency's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that after sending the festive image, the scammers suggest clicking on the link. As an excuse, scammers use participation in the Easter contest, collecting donations or the opportunity to buy a cake at a discount. There have also been cases of sending links to supposedly exclusive broadcasts of worship services.

In addition to digital methods, criminals use offline schemes. Flyers with fake QR codes are being posted near temples, which are positioned as a tool for making quick donations.

On April 7, the Russian Interior Ministry reported that law enforcement agencies had eliminated a telephone fraud center in the north-west of Moscow, and two suspects had been detained. It was noted that the attackers' duties included ensuring uninterrupted communication. At the same time, the detainees themselves did not realize that they had become participants in the crime.
