The State Duma called for limiting the speed of electric scooters in pedestrian areas

The speed of movement on electric scooters in pedestrian vans should be limited to 10 km/h for better regulation. This was announced on April 6 by Dmitry Gusev, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control.

"We need to limit them (electric scooters) even more. — Ed.) the speed in pedestrian zones is up to 10 km/h. Also, everyone who uses an electric scooter should know and follow the rules of the road, that is, show turns with their hands, as cyclists do, and so on. There should be separate paths for bicycles and electric scooters in the walking areas," he said in a conversation with NSN.

Gusev also proposed to simplify the procedure for registering personal mobility equipment (IMS) on the state register. He noted that such a system is already working in Moscow.: The scooters have the numbers of the owner's company, and the cameras record violators.

He also noted that it is not a difficult task to issue numbers to this type of media. According to the deputy, there are about 60 thousand electric scooters in the capital, and about 200 thousand in the country.

Separately, the parliamentarian focused on electric bicycles, calling couriers on them "the biggest danger, especially in summer." He called for the introduction of separate rights and a simplified registration form for them, similar to scooters and mopeds.

Separate bike paths may appear in each new residential complex.

Deptrans of Moscow together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation are working on amendments to the legislation, according to which heavy electric scooters and bicycles will be prohibited from moving on sidewalks. In addition, as noted on April 2, the metropolitan authorities are going to transfer information about traffic violations by couriers on electric scooters and electric bicycles to courier services and the State Traffic Inspectorate.
