MWM reported unprecedented US losses during the rescue of a pilot in Iran

The United States suffered unprecedented losses during the operation to rescue the crew of the F-15E fighter jet shot down over Iran. This was announced on April 6 by the American Military Watch Magazine (MWM).

"After the downing of the US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter over the territory of Iran <...>, aircraft losses on a scale unprecedented in the post—cold war period," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, after the fighter was shot down, the United States launched a rescue mission. It involved HC-130J Combat King II, HH-60W, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, A-10 attack aircraft and MQ-9 drones. 11 aircraft were lost in clashes with Iranian forces.

Two UH-60 helicopters, two MQ-9 drones, one A-10 and an Israeli Hermes 900 reconnaissance drone were shot down by Iranian air defenses. Two HC-130J search and rescue aircraft and two MH-6 helicopters landed in Iran, but were unable to take off. According to American sources, they were destroyed on the ground by their own troops so that the equipment would not fall to the Iranian army.
