Russian forward of HC Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin has been recognized as the first star of the game day in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was announced on April 5 by the league's press service.

In the match against HC Florida Panthers, the Russian scored a hat-trick and provided one assist, and his club won. For Malkin, this game became a landmark: he scored 1,400 points in the NHL, becoming the 23rd player in the history of the league to reach this mark.

In total, during his career in the NHL, he scored 532 goals and made 871 assists.

Utah forward Clayton Keller from the USA was recognized as the second star of the day.

On the same day, it became known that HC Florida Panthers, which won the last two Stanley Cup draws, lost its chances of reaching the playoffs of the current NHL season. The team consists of Russian hockey players Sergey Bobrovsky, Daniil Tarasov and Dmitry Kulikov.
