Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, upset Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain before his death by leaving without saying goodbye to her. This was reported on April 4 by People magazine with reference to the book "Queen Elizabeth II" by historian Hugo Wickers.

"The queen, according to the author of the book, did not see her husband before his death and was upset that he "left without saying goodbye," the article says.

As noted by "Gazeta.<url>", in 2013, the Duke of Edinburgh was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. After her last public appearance in 2017, Elizabeth II allowed her husband to do as he pleased.

Prince Philip preferred the privacy of a farmhouse on the Sandringham Estate. During the pandemic, the queen moved to Windsor Castle and summoned her husband there, where the couple lived in four rooms with a staff of 22 people.

In 2021, the Duke of Edinburgh was often hospitalized, and in March he almost died during heart surgery. The historian claims that on the last night of his life, Prince Philip "slipped away" from the nurses and "shuffled" down the corridor to have a beer. The next morning, he said he wasn't feeling well and "quietly left." The Queen did not have time to say goodbye to him.

The Queen of Great Britain died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her eldest son, Prince Charles, who took the name Charles III, became the new king. On September 16, the new king and family members held a traditional funeral vigil at the tomb of Elizabeth II at the Palace of Westminster in London.
