Ten years of study in Russian schools may be enough, depending on the goals for graduates. This was announced on April 3 by Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

"My point of view is that ten years is enough [for school education], but it all depends on what task we set for graduates," he told RIA Novosti.

The head of the Russian Academy of Sciences explained that everything should be balanced with further education — secondary technical, higher and postgraduate studies. Krasnikov stressed that these things are interrelated and it is impossible to change one without taking into account the other.

On March 31, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation announced that from September 1, 2027, students of the 10th and 11th grades of Russian schools will begin studying according to the new standards. The possibility of creating engineering classes is being consolidated in schools, and students are expected to be able to work with artificial intelligence (AI) and use modern equipment.
