Doctor Litkov explained the causes of spring anxiety and panic attacks
In the spring, many people may experience increased anxiety and panic attacks due to body restructuring and lifestyle changes. This was announced by Sergey Litkov, a psychiatrist and narcologist at the AlkoSpas clinic, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
According to the expert, seasonal changes affect hormonal balance and the functioning of the nervous system.
"This is an acute condition in which the "fight or flight" system is abruptly activated. A person's heart rate increases, there is a feeling of lack of air, dizziness, fear of loss of control or even death," he explained, describing a panic attack.
Litkov noted that sudden changes in the rhythm of life and high expectations from spring create an additional burden.
"Alcohol does not solve the problem of anxiety, but only temporarily masks it. Against the background of seasonal adjustment, this can lead to an increase in panic attacks," the expert emphasized.
He added that with recurring anxiety attacks, it is important to consult a specialist, as well as observe sleep patterns and avoid overloads to help the nervous system adapt.
Clinical psychologist Anna Balenko reported on April 1 that in order to maintain brain function, it is important to add elements of novelty to everyday life, such as changing habitual actions or routes. According to her, this stimulates neuroplasticity and promotes dopamine production, increasing a sense of control and confidence. The expert also recommended preparing for trips in advance to reduce stress, and avoiding alcohol consumption, including on the plane, as it can provoke panic attacks.
