The serial killer declared a desire to die in case of a life sentence
A five-page handwritten letter has appeared in the Korean online community, allegedly written by Kim Soyeon, a suspect in a series of poisoning men in Seoul motels. The authenticity of the document has not been officially confirmed. This was reported by the Chosun Daily.
"Everyone probably wants me to die... If they give me a life sentence anyway, I just want to die," the publication quotes fragments of the text, the authorship of which is attributed to the suspect.
The author of the publication claims that he wrote to Soyeon asking about her well-being and conditions of detention, after which he received a reply letter. In addition to the words about the unwillingness to live, the text describes the hardships of the detention center: the inability to see his mother, sleep disorders and constant stress. It has not yet been possible to establish whether the letter was actually written by the suspect.
Meanwhile, the first court hearing in the Soyeon case is scheduled for April 9. The families of the victims intend to file a civil claim for damages before the hearing begins.
Soyeon— a 21-year-old Seoul resident, was arrested on February 19, 2026. According to investigators, from October 2025 to February 2026, she mixed benzodiazepines into the drinks of men she met on dates. The number of identified victims reached six people, two of them died.
Investigators found out that before committing the crimes, the suspect used ChatGPT to search for information about lethal doses of drugs combined with alcohol. During interrogations, Soyeon admitted the fact of adding substances to drinks, but denied intent to murder, claiming that she only wanted to "calm the aggressive cavaliers."
On October 17 last year, Brazilian police detained a serial killer who had killed four men in five months. It was noted that the suspect was the 36-year-old mother and law student Ana Paula Veloso Fernandez from the city of Sao Paulo.
