An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 was recorded off the coast of the island nation of Vanuatu in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The relevant information was published on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) on March 30.

According to seismologists, the epicenter of the tremors was located 31 km northeast of the city of Luganville, where about 13.3 thousand people live. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 145 km.

There was no information about casualties or damage. No tsunami threat has been announced.

On March 26, an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in Nicaragua. It occurred 15 km west-south-southwest of the Nicaraguan capital Managua, which is home to 973,000 people.
