The United States has lost the ability to exert previous economic pressure on Russia and is unlikely to be able to return to this strategy in the near future. This was announced on March 30 by George Beebe, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for Russia analysis and director of Global Strategy at the Quincy Institute.

"The economic situation in the United States looks so unstable that they cannot afford to continue the old strategy of trying to limit Russia's energy revenues," he said on his YouTube channel.

According to the expert, the rise in world oil prices helps strengthen Russia's position, as it provides additional income from the energy sector. This, he believes, gives Moscow more opportunities to maintain economic stability.

"Thus, Russia is not currently under any special economic pressure <...> and it is very likely that such pressure will not be for some time," Beebe added.
