Representatives of the United Nations (UN) have created a special group whose members will deal with the issue of resuming navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This was announced on Friday, March 27, by the representative of the Secretary of the association Antonio Guterres, Stephane Dujarric.

"The Secretary—General has established a special task force to develop and propose technical mechanisms specifically designed to meet humanitarian needs in the Strait of Hormuz," he is quoted as saying on the organization's website.

Dujarric added that as the conflict in the Middle East develops and threatens to intensify, disruptions in maritime trade across the strait could have negative consequences for humanitarian needs and agricultural production in the coming months.
