School of Brewers and SPbGTI signed an agreement on joint staff development
The Brewers School educational platform and the St. Petersburg State Institute of Technology (SPbGTI) have signed an agreement on the joint development of human resources in the beer and alcohol industry. This was announced on March 17 by the press service of the Brewers School.
The document was signed within the framework of the III International Congress "Biotechnology and Food Technologies" and the I Scientific and Practical Conference "School of Brewers", which takes place on March 17-18 at St. Petersburg State Technical University. The event is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Department of Microbiological Synthesis Technology.
Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Beer and Alcohol industry Taimuraz Bolloev noted the importance of joining forces.
"Today, amid global challenges, brewers face ambitious tasks to ensure the technological, intellectual and raw material sovereignty of the country.: our own yeast strains, Russian breeding of hops and malting barley, and the development of unique formulations. <...> The School of Brewers should become a unified communication and educational field where the experience and competencies of practicing industry experts meet with the energy of young researchers," Bolloev said.
He also explained that for a long time the Russian beer production was fragmented: large and small enterprises solved different problems independently. Now it's time to unite the industry, Bolloev stressed.
Andrey Shevchik, Rector of St. Petersburg State Medical University, in turn, noted that the institute preserves the traditions laid down by Dmitry Ivanovsky, a physiologist and founder of virology. The organization is also developing a multi-level training system for the industry.
The Brewers School platform has already received a license from the Ministry of Education and Science. It is planned to create a continuous training chain from students to current technologists, as well as launch applied research projects.
Elena Myasnikova, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Food Technology and Bioengineering at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, announced on February 26 that the GOST for beer 2012 will be replaced next year by a new standard that expands the possibilities of using different types of malt in the creation of this foamy drink.
Rye, buckwheat, millet and oat malt will be allowed to be used in the production of the drink. The expert emphasized that compliance with the regulations remains voluntary, and potential changes are aimed not at committing to its application, but at instituting changes in this industry.
