Likhachev called the situation in the Bushehr NPP area difficult

The situation in the area of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran is difficult. This was announced on March 9 by Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.

"The situation in the Bushehr NPP area remains difficult. But, fortunately, there were no strikes on the station itself, nor on the construction site and staff settlements," he said in an interview with the industry newspaper Strana Rosatom.

According to him, construction at the station has been suspended, but some of the staff are servicing equipment and completing work that cannot be stopped.

Likhachev stressed that Russia is ready for the second stage of evacuation of family members and part of the station staff to the country. They will be taken to a safe place soon. He also noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally participates in addressing the safety of Russian employees of the Bushehr NPP.

Israel is also scaling up military operations — it has launched a ground operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

On March 4, Russia's representative to the international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, pointed out the catastrophic consequences of the aggression of the United States and Israel in the immediate vicinity of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran. According to him, the explosions occur literally kilometers from the station's protection line.

The next day, on March 5, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to the Russian Federation Oded Yosef stressed that Tel Aviv had taken into account Moscow's concerns about the station. He also clarified that the nuclear power plant is not the target of Israeli strikes.
