The Russian Embassy announced Malta's refusal to rescue the crew of the Arctic Metagaz gas carrier

The Maltese side refused to rescue the crew of the Russian gas carrier Arctic Metagaza in distress in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea due to the fact that this was not within its competence. This was announced on March 4 at the Russian Embassy.

"According to the Maltese side, the incident occurred outside its search and rescue zone, and therefore the evacuation of the crew of the ship in distress to Malta was deemed beyond its competence," representatives of the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.
