Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 3 that the United States may not limit itself to plans to govern Venezuela, Cuba and Iran.

The diplomat recalled recent statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which allowed for a scenario of external control of Iran by Washington. According to the minister, the American administration applies similar approaches to Venezuela and plans to apply them in Cuba.

"And, probably, this is not the end," Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister also drew attention to the public rhetoric of US President Donald Trump and other senior American officials. He stressed that Washington's representatives openly declare their refusal to be guided by the principles of the United Nations (UN), putting exclusively the interests of their state at the forefront. In addition, Lavrov added that Moscow strongly supports the cessation of hostilities in the Middle East.
