Aeroflot has cancelled all flights to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Aeroflot cancelled flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and back on March 1 due to the extension of time restrictions on the use of the airspace of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This was announced on March 1 by the press service of the carrier.
"Passengers of cancelled flights are given the opportunity to reissue tickets for the next dates, taking into account the availability of available seats or making a forced refund," the Telegram channel said.
The press service added that Aeroflot accommodated 790 passengers on cancelled flights in hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The rest settled in on their own.
Yesterday, Dubai airports suspended operations indefinitely due to the escalation of the conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran. Passengers were advised not to arrive at airports during the restrictions and to contact their airlines to clarify departure times.
At the same time, Aeroflot cancelled all flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi on February 28 amid attacks by Iran and Israel. In addition, explosions occurred in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Izvestia published footage from the airport in Dubai after the UAE intercepted several missiles launched from Iran. They show that the tourist area is almost empty. In addition, eyewitnesses told Izvestia about an explosion and a fire near one of the Palm Jumeirah hotels.
According to Aleksan Mkrtchyan, Vice President of the Alliance of Travel Agencies (ATA), approximately 100,000 Russians are stuck in the UAE due to the escalating conflict between Israel, the United States and Iran. He noted that tourists who arrived in the Middle East themselves (not on tours from operators) will have to pay for their own accommodation and meals. According to Mkrtchyan, the difficult situation is likely to last for the next two days.
Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran on the morning of February 28. Later, Tehran fired rockets towards Tel Aviv. In addition, Iran attacked four US military bases in Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Against this background, the United States began evacuating some personnel from the Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar.
