Zakharova recalled the absence of an invitation from the EU to the negotiating table on Ukraine

No one invited representatives of the European Union (EU) to the negotiating table on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on February 26 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

According to her, the EU has no right to interfere in the process and should "sit under the table and not talk."

"No one is waiting for you there. No one invited you there, to this negotiating table, because you don't know how to behave, because you've already been there, because you cheated and cheated, and you were grabbed by the hand," she said.

Zakharova also commented on the visit of the EU and allied leaders to Kiev on February 24, noting that it had not brought Ukraine any concrete results, except for an "empty picture" and "old slogans."

Kiev is delaying the process, but contacts in Geneva will still benefit the settlement, experts believe.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that the opponents of the state are unable to inflict a strategic defeat on it, but they want so much that "they cannot live without it." He also noted that they, "trying to find at least something," bring themselves to the extreme line, as a result of which they regret their actions.

On February 18, the third round of closed-door talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States ended in Geneva. The head of the Russian delegation, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, at the end of the meetings, called the trilateral negotiations difficult but constructive. In turn, the special envoy of the American president, Stephen Witkoff, said that the parties had made significant progress during the discussions.
