A 25-meter heart was burned in Nikola Lenivets on Shrovetide.

On February 21, a traditional fire show was held in the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park in the Kaluga Region, concluding the celebration of Maslenitsa. The large-scale installation "Dark Forest" became a symbolic bonfire this year.

The 20-storey high art object consisted of 16 tree towers and a maze. According to tradition, the organizers staged a fiery performance: they lifted the heart with the help of a crane and set it on fire, after which the flame gradually engulfed the entire structure.

The celebration of Maslenitsa in Nikola Lenivets annually attracts hundreds of spectators who come to see the burning of large-scale art objects. Many guests specially prepare colorful costumes for this event. Earlier, in different years, the Babel Tower, the Flaming Gothic and the Fourth Wall were burned in the park.

In the evening, the rite of forgiveness is performed in churches and penitential prayers are performed.

On February 11, Evgeny Masharov, a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the public examination of draft laws, recalled that violating fire safety rules when burning an effigy of Maslenitsa could lead to fines.
