The Moscow Regional Court overturned the decision on Aliya Galitskaya's arrest.
The Moscow Regional Court overturned the decision of the court of first instance on the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention against Aliya, the ex-wife of the Russian billionaire and former member of the board of directors of Alfa Bank Alexander Galitsky, suspected of extortion. This was reported in court on February 18.
"The Moscow Regional Court overturned the decision of the court of first instance on the election of a preventive measure for Galitskaya," the court's Telegram channel says.
The court of appeal considered the defense's complaint against the decision of the Istra City Court of February 6, 2026, which imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of arrest for a period of two months. Galitskaya is being held in a case initiated under paragraph "b" of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Extortion").
As a result, the court concluded that the earlier ruling had been overturned and discontinued the proceedings at the request of the investigation to detain the suspect. In addition, the Moscow Regional Court issued a private ruling against the judge who made the arrest decision. The Court pointed out that there was no proper motivation for choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention.
