Rosobrnadzor told about popular subjects for passing the Unified State Exam in 2026
Specialized mathematics, computer science, biology and physics have become the most sought-after subjects among graduates for passing the Unified State Exam (USE) in 2026. This was announced on February 18 by the head of Rosobrnadzor, Anzor Muzaev, at a press conference in Moscow dedicated to the start of the examination campaign.
"You can see which subjects the children have chosen the most: mathematics — 371 thousand, social studies — 296 thousand, computer science — over 161 thousand, biology — over 152 thousand, physics — over 146 thousand," he said.
According to the head of the department, 24.4% more graduates will take physics in 2026 than last year. The head of Rosobrnadzor added that 114,623 students chose chemistry this year, which is 10.7% more than in 2025.
In addition, during the presentation, an increase in students' interest in biology and computer science was noted — it increased by 7.4% and by 6% compared to 2025.
It is noted that 101,616 graduates chose history for graduation this year, 93,984 people chose English, and 51,942 and 30,382 chose literature and geography, respectively.
On January 24, Victoria Podsukhina, a teacher and head of regional teaching at the MAXIMUM educational company, said that the six months remaining before the main period for passing the OGE and USE is a sufficient period for high—quality training, subject to a strategic approach. In her opinion, the key to success is sound planning, an honest assessment of one's strengths, and a balanced work schedule.
