The Russian delegation at the Geneva talks acted on the basis of clear instructions consistent with the understandings reached at the Russia-US summit in Alaska. This was announced on February 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The Russian delegation, which is currently at the talks in Geneva, these negotiations, as far as I see from the reports, have just ended... She also had clear instructions to act within the framework of this understanding, these aspects fixed by the parties. We can say that there were agreements, so to speak, which were in the form of an understanding reached during the Russian-American summit in Alaska," she said at a briefing.

Earlier that day, it became known that the Russian delegation had left the negotiating platform for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine in Geneva. The meeting lasted about two hours.

Yesterday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the Russian delegation was heading to Geneva with clear instructions to act within the framework of the agreements reached in Anchorage. He noted that the Russian Federation's position on the Peace Council remains open, while Moscow "continues to analyze the entire set of tools of this structure." Ryabkov stressed that the Russian side proceeds from the need for a pragmatic approach and consideration of current international realities.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at government hour in front of State Duma deputies on February 11, pointed to the immutability of the provisions of the Alaska summit on Ukraine. He added that Moscow continues to contribute to achieving all the objectives of the special military operation by using political and diplomatic methods.
