Witkoff announced significant progress at the Geneva talks
The parties have made significant progress at the talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Geneva. This was announced on February 18 by the special envoy of the American president Stephen Witkoff.
"Today, at the direction of the President [of the United States Donald] According to Trump, the United States mediated the third round of trilateral negotiations with Ukraine and Russia. <...> President Trump's success in bringing the parties to this conflict closer together has led to significant progress," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Witkoff also expressed pride in Washington's work to "stop the bloodshed." He thanked Switzerland for allowing the meeting. According to him, the Russian Federation and Ukraine have agreed to inform their leaders and continue working to reach an agreement.
A source from Izvestia reported earlier that day that the meetings in Geneva were held in bilateral and trilateral formats and lasted about six hours. According to him, the consultations were conducted in the formats of Russian-American, Russian-Ukrainian and Russian-American-Ukrainian negotiations in a tense atmosphere. He clarified that the meetings have been completed at the moment, and the parties agreed to continue working on February 18. The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, did not comment on the outcome of the negotiations.
