The Iranian authorities have expressed their readiness to suspend uranium enrichment and consider exporting part of the reserves outside the country as part of a potential agreement with the United States. The Wall Street Journal reported this on February 17, citing diplomatic sources.

According to the newspaper, Iranian officials in contacts with regional partners have indicated the possibility of suspending uranium enrichment for up to three years. Tehran also allows the transfer of some nuclear materials to a third party.

In addition, the newspaper's sources note that Russia is being considered as a possible intermediary for the export of stocks. According to the interlocutors of the publication, such steps may become part of a broader agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said earlier in the day that the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva was held in a constructive manner. According to him, the parties have reached an understanding on a number of common issues and are closer to discussing the essence of a possible agreement. The negotiations concerned the Iranian nuclear dossier.
