The powers of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov will expire in January 2027. This was announced on February 17 on the website of the Constitutional Court of the Republic.

According to the court's decision, the five-year term of office established by the 2021 Constitution does not extend to the presidential mandate that began during the period of the 2010 Constitution.

The decision clarifies that the term of office, which began under the old Constitution, should end in six years, as it was originally envisaged. At the same time, Japarov continues to perform his duties in accordance with the Constitution of 2021, and his six-year term will be counted as the first term under the two-term rule.

On February 10, Japarov signed a decree on the dismissal of Kamchybek Tashiev from the post of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — Chairman of the State Committee for National Security. It was noted that Zhumgalbek Kumarovich Shabdanbekov was appointed Acting Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic.
