Thefts in Russia have dropped to a record low since 2015

In 2025, 453,338 thefts were registered in Russia, making this type of crime the most common in the country, despite the decline in their number. This follows from the statistics, which were reviewed by TASS on February 15.

Compared to 2024, the number of thefts decreased by 46 thousand cases, which is the lowest figure in recent times. The downward trend in the number of thefts has been observed since 2015, when more than 1 million crimes of this kind were registered.

In 2025, there were also 14.4 thousand robberies, more than 13 thousand cases of intentional infliction of serious harm to health, 6.2 thousand extortion, almost 6 thousand murders, 3.4 thousand rapes, more than 2.7 thousand hooliganism and almost 2.5 thousand robberies.

In total, 1 million 771 thousand crimes were registered in 2025, which is 7.3% less compared to the previous year. At the same time, an increase in the number of crimes was recorded in five regions, and a decrease in their number is observed in 80 regions of the country.
