On February 11, Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, announced that the party's election program would be approved at a congress in August.

"This is the main document that we need to create, namely the pre—election document that will be adopted at the congress in August of this year, it should be extremely specific," Medvedev said at a meeting with an expert group working on the creation of the party's people's program. The video was posted on his page on the VKontakte social network.

He suggested that party members prepare by June the basis of a long-term program focused on the next five years, so that citizens could see the goals that United Russia sets for itself. Medvedev also noted that the congress is planned to be held in three stages.

On February 5, Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, announced the start of the party's election campaign. He stressed that the main task is to show the voters the results of the party's work over the past five years and form a new national program during a direct dialogue.
