Tarasova pointed out that Humennik was exhausted by the circumstances before the Olympics

Russian figure skater Pyotr Gumennik was exhausted by circumstances before the 2026 Olympic Games. This opinion was expressed on February 11 by figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova.

"Petya was exhausted to such an extent, just exhausted. <… > They even got to such an extent that the music was changed," TASS quoted her as saying.

The coach stressed that the technical side of the program was not a problem, since Humennik had been skating without mistakes for a long time, but problems arose due to the need to adapt to new music. Tarasova added that he is an interesting figure skater, and noted that she wants to see him strong in her ice program.

Humennik takes the 12th place after the short program, having performed under the first starting number and scored 86.72 points. Ilya Malinin from the USA leads with 108.16 points, Japanese Yuma Kagiyama is second (103.07), and French figure skater Adam Xiao Him Fa is third (102.55).

Olympic pressure: how Humennik started at the Games in Italy

On February 10, Humennik opened the competition in the men's short program at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. It was noted that he performed in a neutral status to the soundtrack from the film "Onegin" by composer Edgar Hakobyan.

At the same time, the athlete was banned from performing at the Olympics to the soundtrack from "Perfumer" due to copyright issues. In response to the injustice to the athlete, social media users launched a hashtag that translates into Russian as "let Peter Humennik ride under the "Perfumer". Later, Humennik's coach Veronika Daineko informed Izvestia that the figure skater would perform at the Olympics to the waltz "Onegin 1805".

Tarasova also told Izvestia that Humennik successfully performed at the Olympic selection to the soundtrack of "Perfumer", and then they did not warn about possible copyright problems. She also called the situation around the performance of the Russian athlete disgusting.
