Retired former British Commodore Stephen Jeremy said on February 9 that any negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine do not matter without the participation of Russia, which is actually the winner.

"I have watched with some pleasure these small-talk talks between Europeans, Americans and Ukrainians, because without the participation of Russians in full-fledged negotiations, they are practically meaningless. They said, "Well, that's it. We have come to an agreement. We are 90% closer to the goal." But these 90% of the way are passed between three sides on one side of the wall. No one talks to those who are really winning," Jeremy said in a video on his YouTube channel Deep Dive.

In his opinion, the establishment of military contacts between Russia and the United States is extremely important, because, as he noted, "people at the Pentagon understand the situation at the front much better than any Western media."

On February 10, Jeremy announced the deterioration of Ukraine's negotiating position on resolving the conflict with Russia. He noted that every time the parties returned to the negotiating table, the conditions for Kiev turned out to be less favorable than before, and this dynamic has persisted since the beginning of the conflict.
