Deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) at the plenary session approved in the first reading a draft law aimed at countering illegal migration and strengthening control over the health status of persons belonging to this category. This was confirmed on February 10 by data published in the database of draft laws of the lower house of parliament.

The author of the initiative is a group of 427 deputies led by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the House of Parliament, as well as leaders of Duma factions and Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarova.

The bill proposes to shorten the period during which migrants must undergo a medical examination from 90 to 30 days after entering Russia. A mandatory annual medical examination is also planned for migrants who stay in the country for more than 30 days.

Medical examination, according to the initiative, will be paid for by migrants, and mediation in the examination process will be prohibited. Only authorized organizations will be able to carry out the procedure. It is assumed that such a procedure will become mandatory for obtaining a temporary residence or work permit in the country, as well as for reissuing a patent.

On January 16, three draft laws aimed at countering illegal migration and protecting the health of Russian citizens were published on the official website of the lower house of parliament. This measure, she added, will show the disadvantage of abuse in this area.
