Szijjarto: mobilization in Ukraine has turned into a manhunt
Mobilization measures in Ukraine have turned into a violent process with elements of persecution of citizens. People are being detained and forced into military service, despite their refusal to participate in combat. This was announced on February 8 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"There are many cases of open hunting of people on the streets of Ukrainian cities," Szijjarto wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation).
As an example, he mentioned the detention of a Hungarian citizen who assisted a group of Ukrainians while trying to leave the country. According to the diplomat, the Hungarian authorities are providing this person with all necessary legal and consular support.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on February 7 that Budapest would not allow the arrogant attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards Hungary and the Hungarian people. He stated that the country would not tolerate the forced mobilization of ethnic Hungarians from Transcarpathia into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to Orban, this issue will be discussed at the EU level. He also noted that the Hungarian government will provide support to the families of Transcarpathian Hungarians who died during the fighting or as a result of mobilization.
